J Dog
VEGAS BABY!
by J-DOG

Playing online at BiG SLiCK, our very own J-Dog has won a $13,000 trip to Las Vegas, including a seat for the WSOP Main Event - we asked him to tell us all about it.

"Basically it went thus....
On Monday I played the $25 rebuy stage 1 sattelite into the $200 rebuy Main Event B package. I had 1 rebuy and the add on. There were 3 tickets available. I managed to get one of those - not much really to report about that comp.... was pretty standard.

Wednesday 2100hr comes and there are 33 runners. I play really really tight. Started on 2000 chips and have been whittled down to about 1300. It's now about 1 minute before the add-on time and I think I'd better do a rebuy. Rebuys are $100 for 2500. A minute later, I have the add-on for $100 and get 3000 chips. So now I'm on about 6800.....

During this time, as well as playing online, I'm also playing the cash table at Slicks... Jamie is dealing and leans over to me and tells me that Terry Burke is on his way down to the club. So I figure I should probably take this a bit more seriously and stand up from the cash table and concentrate.

Up to this point I'd had AA once and flopped a house on a ATT board. But I don't get any real action on it. About 5 hands after the add-on I KK in early position. I raise. Another guy in mid position re-raises. The cut-off then shoves All-in. I shove All-in and the re-raiser follows suit. Re-raiser shows QQ and cut off shows 99. My KK holds up and become chip leader for the tourney. Terry arrives at the club and I rope him into sitting next to me to act as a sounding board for hands, so I don't make too many serious mistakes.

I then continue my tight tight play, figuring with this stack I can now fold my way to late position, get a really tight image and then change gears later on. I make it to final table as chip leader. There's still loads of play, as the blinds are 15 mins long and we are all pretty safe in our stacks. I keep myself out of danger, by continuing to play tight. A couple of people drop out through natural wastage. Then a guy on my right gets involved in a 3 way all-in which he wins, knocking 2 people out and taking the chip lead from me.

This guy now starts to go mental and obviously wants to be table captain. There are about 6 people left. He is raising every pot now. I knock out a shortstack and the 'captain' knocks out a couple too. We're down to 3 handed and  he is my SB when I'm BB. He raises everytime the button folds to him. This happens about 5-6 times. I decide that the next time he does it I'm gonna play back at him. He raises again to 2400.

Blinds are 400/800. I re-raise to 5600. He calls. Flop 6 6 9!!!  - - - - - YES!!! :-)
He leads out for about half the pot. I call. Turn is a Q.
He then leads out for about 3/4 the pot. I call. River brings a 7.
He value bets 9600 into a 70k pot.
I have about 31k behind. I shove all-in - he instantly calls.
He shows 72 - my K6 wins and I'm now on 138k.

He then tilts off, going all in every pot. I lock up and play nothing.  After about 4 hands of him going all-in, the other guy calls him and knocks him out. I'm now on 138 Heads-Up against a guy on 35k.

During the HU we both fold the button, steal and limp a few times. About 10 hands in, I get KK on the button. I limp. He checks. Flop comes Q high. He leads out for half the pot. I call. Turn is a brick. He leads out again for about half the pot. I shove all in he calls showing AQ!!!! River bricks out!!! The whole club goes mental...

I go totally mental!!! I'm running up and down the isle!!! Screaming the place down...  and then collapse in a heap at the door!!!....

Pretty happy little boy all in all... still can't wipe the smile off my face!!!
